On Sunday, January 26th, Concerto’s Vice President of Clinical Services, Lakeisha Jones, was honored as one of the top 20 most influential Black women by The Chicago 300 Black Women, Chicago’s leading non-profit for Black women. For the 9th consecutive year, this event recognizes successful Black women who are redefining excellence – and Lakeisha is doing just that! Lakeisha believes in delivering quality care to our patients, and for the last 10 years, has shared her passion for educating patients and empowering them to take ownership of their care to redefine excellence in dialysis.
For Lakeisha, this award brings all of her accomplishments together and, according to Lakeisha, her biggest accomplishment of all was becoming a nurse. Nursing is Lakeisha’s second career which she pursued as a young, full-time mother, wife, and career woman. Despite the barriers and struggles, this award affirms that she can do anything she puts her mind to and makes her want to be better and greater for the other women who look up to her.
As she reflects on how far she’s come, Lakeisha shares, “never doubt yourself. Always be the best you can be. The important thing is to never give up. Life may knock you down, but don’t stay down. You always get up, never give up, and keep God first.”
